dear old orange

you make me feel okay

about the dots on my skin

dear old orange

when did the world ever stop caring

about beauty from within?

-- i'm real. i have skin. i have pores that look like dotted oranges. i have acne that looks like a constellation. i have scars that look like lightning. my hair flows from the top of my head to my imperfect shoulders like waves to the shore. i'm in the trees, i'm in the breeze and they are in me; i should not have to and i will not apologize for not fitting in the little box of what's considered beautiful. as long as i am made of mother earth, i am beautiful. i am real.
