i didn’t know what true regret was

 until i heard the news 

gray skies came from the blues

 i still feel myself shake

for i didn't know the world could take

 so much away from me

 in such a short time.

all i remember is the good times 

as he'd taught me to.

7 days before it happened

 he told me

"no matter how much trouble you get into, 

just come to me, 

i'll get you out of it, i promise."

he never broke that promise 

for i know he's still with me

every pretty sunset is a reminder

 that he's still there, as he will be 

forever.
